I made some slight modifications to the normal rice krispie treat recipe and it made them completely irresistible, the rice krispie treats were gone in a matter of hours. Now, this is probably one of my favorite dessert recipes because it is so easy!
Here are the ingredients you will need to make irresistible rice krispie treats:
- 1 bag of marshmellows
- 6 cups of rice krispies
- 4 tbsp of butter
- 2 tsp of vanilla
- Cooking spray
You can use either a small bag of marshmallows or a big bag. I made 3 different batches all using a full bag of the big marshmallows (the bag was 12 oz) and the rice krispie treats were delectable! The other slight modifications I made were the extra tablespoon of butter and the 2 teaspoons of vanilla which made them irresistible, like I said they were gone within hours of being made.
Step 1
Measure out your 6 cups of rice krispies, so they’re ready when you need to add them.
It’s also a good idea to prep the final pan you’ll be transferring the treats to when you’ve combined the rice krispies and the marshmallows. I recommend using a glass pan and spraying it with cooking spray:
Step 2
Melt the butter. Once the butter is melted add the full bag of marshmallows.
You’re going to need to stir the marshmallows so I recommend spraying the spoon with cooking spray so your spoon won’t stick to the marshmallows. Doing this will make it so much easier because you won’t just have a giant clump of goo stuck to your spoon.
Step 3
Once the marshmallows are mostly melted, turn the stove off and add in the rice krispies. I add the rice krispies when the marshmallows look like the picture below. There are only a few marshmallows that haven’t completely melted, but that’s okay because you’ll just mix the rice krispies in and the last few lumps will get worked out.
Step 4
After you’ve mixed the rice krispies and the marshmallows together transfer them to the glass pan. If you haven’t sprayed the pan already I recommend doing so.
Then gently pat the rice krispies into the pan to help them stick together. You don’t want to push to hard or when they set they’ll be really firm.
Tip:
If you run your fingers under water before patting the rice krispies into the pan it will help keep them from sticking to your fingers.
Step 5
If you want you can add some sprinkles to your rice krispie treats to make them more colorful and fun.
Let the treats set up for 20 – 40 minutes. The longer you give them to set up the more they’ll hold together after cutting and serving them.
